LAUSANNE, March 14, 2024 – The race to the ultimate prize of the AIPS Sport Media Awards 2023 has become more intense and AIPS is pleased to announce the longlist for each category starting tomorrow (Friday, March 15, 2024) with all broadcasting categories: Video (Athlete Profile, Documentary and Short Feature); Young Reporters (Broadcasting) and Audio.

The longlist will be published on www.aipsmedia.com and www.aipsawards.com. The other categories will follow on Saturday (March 16) and Sunday (March 17). These categories are Photography (Portfolio and Sport Action) and Young Reporters (Photography); Writing (Best Colour Piece and Best Column) and Young Reporters (Writing).

The sixth edition of the AIPS Sport Media Awards received more than 1890 submissions from a record number of 141 countries, showing incredible quality, creativity, diversity across the different forms of media.

FIVE VOTING STAGES The longlist represents the first stage of judging. More than 600 submissions, approximately 35 percent of the total works, qualified to this stage. Here is a reminder of the five judging stages:

After carefully reviewing all submissions; checking dates, links and files, the Awards judging process began in December, involving a panel of specialists, EC members and Jury members, whose average ratings result in the longlists.

The second voting stage, which is exclusively carried out by the EC members (representing 24 different nations), will narrow down the selected works into a shortlist of candidates.

The third and fourth voting stages are carried out by the Jury - 12 respected members from the sport media industry representing the five continents - as they first select the top 10 and then the top 3.

Finally, one day before the awards ceremony, a final voting stage takes place and the results remain secret until the announcement.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT At the beginning of April, we will announce the shortlists, then the 10 nominees and subsequently the three finalists for each category.
