FRANCO NONES: PER TUTTO L'ORO ...DEL FONDO (FRANCO NONES, AT WALKING PACE)
- Dario Ricci / Radio24 IlSole24Ore
Dario Ricci tells the story of Franco Nones, the first Italian to break the wall of the giant Vikings. On February 7, 1968 he marked a turning point in the world of cross-country skiing, which until that moment was an undisputed realm of the giants from Sweden, Norway, Finland and Russia. The very determined ‘little Italian’ - as he was called by the press of that time - won the Olympic gold medal in the 30 km classic technique in Grenoble and shocked the whole ski-movement. In the “Year of Revolutions” (1968), Nones, with his gold medal, played a decisive part in sport history as he helped in breaking stereotypes.
